Chris Murphy Announces Endorsement from the Sierra Club

HARTFORD — U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Thursday announced the endorsement of the Sierra Club. The Sierra Club is a grassroots organization with approximately 2.7 million members and supporters fighting for clean air, clean water, and the preservation of the world’s natural and wild spaces.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club and their members across Connecticut. I first got involved in politics after organizing clean-ups of a local river, and that commitment to protecting the environment has continued to drive my work in the Senate. The stakes couldn’t be higher. Just this past week, the UN released a dire report about climate change that should scare us all. I’m proud of my record working for Connecticut, like tripling the funding for a program to protect the Long Island Sound, and fighting back against President Trump’s disastrous assault on the environment,” said Murphy.

“The Connecticut Sierra Club has strongly supported Chris Murphy since he first ran for Congress in 2006. We renew our appreciation as he runs for re-election to the Senate in 2018. Senator Murphy clearly knows the vital importance of quickly moving away from fossil fuels, investing in a clean energy future, and protecting the natural resources we depend on for our health and quality of life. We are confident his leadership as one of our extraordinary elected leaders protecting the environmental health of our world will continue to make us proud,” said Martin Mador, CT Sierra Club Political Committee.
