Washington, D.C. — The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) endorses incumbent Senator Chris Murphy for re-election as United States senator from Connecticut.

Senator Murphy has dedicated his career to gun violence prevention since the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. In the past five years, he has been the face of gun violence prevention in the Senate, even leading a nearly 15-hour filibuster in 2016 to force a vote on sensible gun measures. This year, he was a part of a bipartisan group of senators who sponsored a bill to improve our nation’s federal instant criminal background checks system (NICS).

Senator Murphy is a strong ally and warrior in the fight for stronger gun laws. He will play a vital role in the debate over gun violence prevention in the next Congress. We enthusiastically endorse him for re-election.
