Chris Murphy Announces Endorsement of CSEA SEIU Local 2001

HARTFORD — U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Thursday announced the endorsement of CSEA SEIU Local 2001. The union fights for retirement security for retirees and advocates by protecting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. CSEA SEIU Local 2001 also works for fair wages and hours, affordable health care, and good working conditions for public employees.

“Senator Chris Murphy has been a strong and vocal advocate for Connecticut families and one of the most pro-worker members of the United States Senate since his election to the Senate in 2012. Chris Murphy not only listens to our members, but fights alongside us to win for the working class. Chris has been very supportive in Washington of efforts that have helped thousands of Connecticut families access healthcare, many for the first time in years. His concern for issues that directly impact people’s day-to-day lives, and his continued fight to show that government really can deliver positive results for working people earns our enthusiastic endorsement,” said Stephen Anderson, President CSEA SEIU Local 2001.

“We’re at a critical moment in Washington right now. Senator McConnell recently said that if Republicans maintain control of Congress, their first priority will be to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid to pay for their recent tax cut for the wealthy and corporations. I’m more fired up than ever to fight back against this disastrous plan for workers and retirees. The members of CSEA SEIU Local 2001 are powerful advocates for the health care and retirement security workers deserve. I’m proud of their support and am committed to continuing to fight alongside them,” said Murphy.
